About Me:

I used to weigh 375 lb. Mid July 2010 my grandfather passed away from complications with diabetes. I saw first hand what I was going towards. It was not pretty. In August of the same year I began this journey to lose weight and become more fit. Many don't know this but at first it was a journey to try and play College Football. (I know a long shot) Over the months of running and gym workouts I found a love for running and cycling. I combined that love and did my first Triathlon in June 2011. With that I pushed to see what the limit was. I have run more races than I can count, 5k's, half marathons, marathons, and Ironman Arizona. Doors have opened in my life that I never thought possible. Moving back to Maryland I trained as an EMT/Firefighter along with becoming a terp at UMD. There I joined the Maryland Triathlon team GO TERPS!! In the Summer of 2014 I will be joining others on a bike ride called the 4K for Cancer from Baltimore to San Francisco to help raise money for the Ulman Cancer Fund For Young Adults. Today I weigh 245 lb and life is good. This is my journey:

Walt Disney World Marathon Run Through

This is a re-post of my marathon run through Disney. It took me 4:57:43 with stopping to take pictures with all the characters. The experience of a lifetime.

Mile 3 or so in Epcot. Feeling great around 6:15am still a bit stiff and cold

Mile 10-11 passing through the Cinderella Castle, Still feeling pretty good and moved from taking a powerade cup and water to 2 powerade cups. 1 Mile from now i'll be chowing down on a delicious banana. mmm mmm good

Stopped to pose after Cinderella Castle

This is the tale of Captain Jack Sparrow (and Barbosa). Mile 12-13 or so on the stretch leaving Magic Kingdom down to Animal Kingdom. The line for a picture was like 5 minutes long but totally worth it for a pic with these characters. Some sick make up because those are not mannequins.

Animal Kingdom around mile 17, still running strong feeling a bit of tightness in my legs. They offered me some pretzels around this point, i took one bite and spit it out (not the best of decisions and I figured I still have my gels)

Hollywood Studios at mile 23. I look really happy here because they just handed me some chocolate. THE BEST chocolate Krackel I have ever had in my life.

We just made our way around the boardwalk and over a bridge and I can see the mile 25 marker in Epcot around a bend. It's about 10:45 or so now and the heat is starting to come in. I am trying as hard as I can to tell myself just do 1 mile at a time and worry about others. I have succumbed to a run/walk at this point. Just enough energy to give a peace sign.

And a wave to the camera man right after that same place

The pain in my feet is agonizing as we round the world in Epcot once more. Japan, Germany, Norway and their Vikings with Morocco in there as well. People are sipping beer and cheering us and all I can think about is how I saw that damn christmas tree 4 hours ago. I am almost home.

Right outside the Epcot golf Ball looking thing, we turned to the right and approached the most epic thing I have seen in my life; the mile 26 marker with a Choir dressed in yellow singing something glorious. I wish I could remember what they were singing just trust me :). Next we rounded some trees and all of a sudden were once again in the Epcot parking lot this time with stands and thousands of people cheering. I couldn't control my legs anymore they were racing to the finish line. I threw my hands up in excitement. Best day of my life.

Official finishing time is  4:57:43

My face says it all in these pics.
